Shibari Refuge Düsseldorf

"The Shibari Refuge Düsseldorf is created anew every day."

Jan aka JPBondage

In this protected place, unique possibilities open up in which the most diverse people meet.

Guided by Jan aka JPBondage, you embark on exciting journeys. Through and with the use of the rope, new connections are created on many levels, in which meaning and courage are found to free oneself from limiting beliefs and obstructive structures.

On each of these journeys, the yesterday of tomorrow is created in today.

Thus, the Shibari Refuge Düsseldorf offers a safe haven for personal expeditions to new worlds and welcomes you.

JPBondage

" The obvious is ordinary."

Jan aka JPBondage

Jan gets in contact with the German BDSM scene the first time in 2010. In the same year he finds his way to rope as a rigger.
Or had the rope found him? He can't quite describe it any more. What he does know, however, is the fact that even back then, without any previous experience, he was able to create connections on every conceivable level, even through the rope to people.

Since then, his focus has been on improving his ability to lead the rope. Very soon the international bondage scene will know him as JPBondage. So he embarks on his own rope journey. The biggest learning is the ability to separate himself. The second most important learning is that not all people who indulge in Shibari understand the depth & implications of rope, as Jan does.

Familiar with Asian martial arts himself, Jan finds his approach to Shibari, whose origins lie in the Japanese martial art of rope Hojōjutsu. Contributing to Jan's technical understanding are advanced training sessions with a handful of international, including Japanese, Shibari practitioners. Without question, however, Jan develops his signature rope skills very early on from a dedication to aesthetics, philosophy & through his empathy.

In 2021, Jan graduates from Betty Martin's "Like A Pro" advanced training of the "Wheel of Consent" principle, which deals with the nature of one's own limits & limits of other people.

It is said that feeling the rope on your own body is a special experience. Rope meter by rope meter, a unique world opens up, an exclusive scenario. The way there & back is as varied as the wishes, fantasies & needs of each individual person.

Philosophy

""I have learned that time is my ally."

Jan aka JPBondage

Since 2011 thoughts, techniques & experiences have been growing with the vision of the Shibari Refuge Düsseldorf to create a protected place where people can explore Shibari. Since its beginnings with Shibari, JPBondage has developed the ability to deal with the apparently magical effect of rope naturally as well as effectively, juggling physical closeness & creating emotional connection.

As the origin of Shibari lies in the Japanese martial art Hojōjutsu, our philosophy is based on lifelike ways of thinking of Far Eastern martial arts. Martial arts begin & end with respect, they require a responsible approach to oneself & the environment. Therefore, we practice mindfulness, patience, humility, appreciation, accepting & letting go & try to make ourselves free of prejudices.

Another pillar of our philosophy is the "Wheel of Consent" by Betty Martin, which, briefly outlined, deals with recognising & dealing with one's own boundaries & the boundaries of other people. The Wheel of Consent is indispensably integrated in our philosophy to complement the understanding with the responsible use of the rope.

We use our time observing, learning & implementing.
